| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the | 4 |
| Libertyville Boys Club on the occasion of the club's 75th | 5 |
| anniversary on September 6, 2008; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville Boys Club (LBC) is a | 7 |
| volunteer-based Illinois not-for-profit organization that | 8 |
| creates and administers tackle football and cheerleading | 9 |
| programs; the program originally served as a boxing club, | 10 |
| drawing large crowds to Lake County until the boxing program | 11 |
| dwindled during World War II; historically serving all of Lake | 12 |
| County, the LBC currently serves Libertyville and central Lake | 13 |
| County by making instructional and participative football and | 14 |
| cheerleading programs available to boys and girls between the | 15 |
| ages of six and fourteen; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville Boys Club played their first | 17 |
| football games at St. Joe's and Highland Schools in | 18 |
| Libertyville; in the late 1970s, the program was moved to | 19 |
| Butler Lake Park, where it resides today; in the early 1980s, | 20 |
| the league's numbers dwindled to a low of 100 participating | 21 |
| athletes; however, through the inspired efforts of Bill | 22 |
| DeBruler, Dennis Mudd, and Jean French, the LBC moved forward | 23 |
| and will teach football to over 800 athletes during the 2008 |

| fall season; and | 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville Boys Club seeks to teach the | 3 |
| fundamentals of the game of football and to promote a sense of | 4 |
| sportsmanship and fair play to youth through participation in | 5 |
| team activities while in an environment that stresses fun for | 6 |
| all participants; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville Boys Club has provided youth | 8 |
| sports activities to over 15,000 participants since its | 9 |
| inception; the LBC Football Program currently fields 24 | 10 |
| in-house teams, 16 flag football teams, and 5 travel teams that | 11 |
| serve over 800 boys and girls in the Libertyville area; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, All participants in the Libertyville Boys Club | 13 |
| Youth Football program have the right to be part of a team, to | 14 |
| try out for any position and earn the position through effort | 15 |
| and skill demonstrated at practice and during games, and to | 16 |
| participate in all games at a position assigned by the coaching | 17 |
| staff and in accordance the rules; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Many former players, as well as ex-NFL players, | 19 |
| have coached or are now coaching in the Libertyville Boys Club | 20 |
| Youth Football program, including Glen Kozlowski, Jim | 21 |
| Thornton, Ron Rivera, Jim Morissey, Dave Duerson, Robin Earl, | 22 |
| Vince Tobin, and Bob Wylie; the LBC has also produced numerous |

| high school and college-level football players and current NFL | 2 |
| Houston Texan Kevin Walter; and | 3 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville Boys Club continues to flourish | 4 |
| under the direction of the current Board of Directors; the | 5 |
| members of the Board of Directors are Meade Detweiler, Mike | 6 |
| Currier, Rich Danilkowitz, John Teichman, Mike Johnson, and | 7 |
| Danny Nickolich; and | 8 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville Boys Club Youth Football program | 9 |
| has imparted the values of sportsmanship, self-confidence, and | 10 |
| integrity to countless young men and women in the State of | 11 |
| Illinois, an accomplishment worthy of the greatest respect; | 12 |
| therefore, be it
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 14 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 15 |
| congratulate the members of the Libertyville Boys Club on the | 16 |
| occasion of the club's 75th anniversary and wish them continued | 17 |
| success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 |
| presented to the Libertyville Boys Club as a symbol of our | 20 |
| esteem and respect.
