| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of
Betty Marie Barnett of Canton, who passed | 4 | | away on January 29, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betty Barnett was born on September 12, 1927, in | 6 | | Peoria; she was the daughter of Lewis and Gertrude Seelye | 7 | | Walker; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Betty Barnett was employed at Peoria Metal and | 9 | | Armour Meat Packing and served as a cafeteria lady at Harrison | 10 | | School; she also sold Avon products for many years; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, In the early 1970s, Betty Barnett and her husband | 12 | | moved to rural Canton, where they built a home on a farm they | 13 | | shared with their daughter; on the farm, she raised small | 14 | | animals and oversaw a large garden; during those years, she was | 15 | | an excellent bowler who participated in leagues at Linn Lanes | 16 | | in Canton; after moving to Bartonville for a few years, she | 17 | | returned to Canton following the death of her husband; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Betty Barnett was an avid and knowledgeable | 19 | | gardener who loved tulips and roses; she also enjoyed antique | 20 | | hunting and traveling, especially to Hawaii; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Betty Barnett was a born-again Christian and a | 2 | | member of Evangelical Free Church of Canton, where she was a | 3 | | Sunday school teacher for many years; she also loved to worship | 4 | | and travel with her friends at the First Baptist Church of | 5 | | Pekin; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Betty Barnett was preceded in death by her devoted | 7 | | husband of almost 50 years, Clayburn W. Barnett Sr., and one | 8 | | sister, Norma Eubank; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Betty Barnett is survived by her children, Diana | 10 | | Hall, Clayburn W. "Sonny" Barnett Jr. (Sally), Jim Barnett, and | 11 | | Brenda Kinsel; her brother, Lewis (Mary) Walker; her sister, | 12 | | Patsy Russell; her grandchildren, Mick (Jami) Hall, Kim (Allan) | 13 | | Jackson, Michelle (Chris) Stevens, Scott Barnett, Brent | 14 | | Barnett, and Brian (Jessica) Kinsel; her 14 | 15 | | great-grandchildren; and her cat, Muffin; therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 18 | | her family and friends, the passing of Betty Marie Barnett; and | 19 | | be it further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Betty Barnett as an expression of | 22 | | our sympathy.
