| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor our esteemed colleague, | 4 |
| Illinois State Representative James H. "Jim" Meyer, for his | 5 |
| many years of dedicated service to the people of the State of | 6 |
| Illinois and the Illinois House of Representatives; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Jim Meyer is a resident of | 8 |
| Naperville; he earned his bachelor's degree in political | 9 |
| science and history from Upper Iowa University; he served four | 10 |
| years in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in | 11 |
| Omaha, Nebraska and Korat, Thailand; obtaining the rank of | 12 |
| Staff Sergeant, he was honorably discharged in 1971; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Prior to his election to the 48th District, | 14 |
| Representative Jim Meyer served for 10 years as the State | 15 |
| Representative of the 82nd District; he also served as a | 16 |
| Bolingbrook village trustee from 1983 to 1993 and as | 17 |
| Bolingbrook's Deputy Mayor from 1987 to 1993; he was previously | 18 |
| employed as a district agent for the Prudential Insurance | 19 |
| Company; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, During his tenure in the Illinois House of | 21 |
| Representatives, Representative Jim Meyer has served as the | 22 |
| Minority Spokesman for the House Telecommunications and Smart |

| Growth & Regional Planning committees; he has also been a | 2 |
| member of the Executive, Consumer Protection, Environment & | 3 |
| Energy, Health & Healthcare Disparities, and Registration & | 4 |
| Regulation committees, as well as the Advisory Committee on | 5 |
| Hiring Veterans and the Solid Waste Subcommittee; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Jim Meyer has remained an active | 7 |
| member of his community; he is a member of the Naperville, | 8 |
| Woodridge, Lisle, and Bolingbrook Chambers of Commerce, the | 9 |
| Naperville Exchange Club, the Bolingbrook Lyons, Viet Now, the | 10 |
| Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5917, and the American Legion | 11 |
| Post 1288; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Jim Meyer and his beloved wife, | 13 |
| Bonnie, have one daughter, Lisa, and two grandsons, Jason and | 14 |
| Nathaniel; and | 15 |
| WHEREAS, Following his retirement in January of 2009, | 16 |
| Representative Jim Meyer will hopefully have more time to spend | 17 |
| on his favorite activities, such as traveling (especially to | 18 |
| Disney World), being outdoors in his garden, astronomy, or, | 19 |
| most importantly, spending time with his family; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Jim Meyer will be remembered by the | 21 |
| grateful citizens of the 48th District and the members of this | 22 |
| august body as a kind and sincere gentleman whose low-key and |

| aggressive political style have made him an effective and | 2 |
| forthright legislator; therefore, be it
| 3 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 4 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 5 |
| honor Illinois State Representative James H. "Jim" Meyer for | 6 |
| his many years of dedicated service to the people of the State | 7 |
| of Illinois and this august body and wish him continued success | 8 |
| and happiness in his future endeavors; and be it further
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 |
| presented to Representative Jim Meyer as a symbol of our esteem | 11 |
| and respect.
