Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

Sec. 11.3. Transition services; children with disabilities.

A child with a disability who receives residential and educational services directly from or paid by the Department shall be eligible to receive transition services in accordance with Article 14 of the School Code from the age of 14.5 through age 21, inclusive, notwithstanding the child's residential services arrangement.  Beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly, the Department shall review its policies and regulations that create obstacles to the provision of these services and within the constraint of existing federal or State law change or modify the policies and regulations to support the provision of transition services in accordance with Article 14 of the School Code.  For the purposes of this Section, "child with a disability" means a child with a disability as defined by the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004.
