Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act. Provides that the
term "employment" does not include services performed as a
car hiker (a person engaged in driving new or used vehicles
between a new vehicle dealership and any other location) for
a licensed new vehicle dealer.

1 AN ACT to amend the Unemployment Insurance Act by adding
2 Section 232.2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended by
6 adding Section 232.2 as follows:
7 (820 ILCS 405/232.2 new)
8 Sec. 232.2. Car hiker. The term "employment" shall not
9 include services performed as a car hiker for a licensed new
10 vehicle dealer. As used in this Section, "car hiker" means
11 an individual who performs services in connection with
12 driving or transporting new or used vehicles between a new
13 vehicle dealership and any other location within this State
14 or outside of this State, and "licensed new vehicle dealer"
15 means a person who is licensed under Section 5-101 of the
16 Illinois Vehicle Code.
