Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that
policies of automobile insurance may not require that an
insured utilize auto repair service providers selected by the
issuer of the policy.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Insurance Code by adding
2 Section 143.32.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
6 adding Section 143.32 as follows:
7 (215 ILCS 5/143.32 new)
8 Sec. 143.32. Selection of repair facility. No policy of
9 automobile insurance issued, amended, delivered, or renewed
10 after the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1997 may
11 contain any provision that requires an insured to utilize a
12 provider of automobile repair services selected by the issuer
13 of the policy.
