1 AN ACT to amend the Local Governmental and Governmental
2 Employees Tort Immunity Act by changing Section 1-101.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Local Governmental and Governmental
6 Employees Tort Immunity Act is amended by changing Section
7 1-101.1 as follows:
8 (745 ILCS 10/1-101.1) (from Ch. 85, par. 1-101.1)
9 Sec. 1-101.1. Purpose; availability of defense or
10 immunity.
11 (a) The purpose of this Act is to protect local public
12 entities and public employees from liability arising from the
13 operation of government. It grants only immunities and
14 defenses.
15 (b) Any defense or immunity, common law or statutory,
16 available to any private person shall likewise be available
17 to local public entities and public employees.
