 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to join  in
 3    the   recognition   of  two  outstanding  football  teams  of
 4    Centralia High School; and
 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the  1926  and
 6    1927  football  teams,  coached by A. L. Trout, were recently
 7    inducted into the Centralia Sports Hall of Fame; and
 8        WHEREAS, In its second year of football at CHS, the  team
 9    ended  the  season  with  a  record  of 7-0 and outscored its
10    opponents 194-32; and
11        WHEREAS, In 1927, the CHS team ended the  season  with  a
12    record  of  7-0-1;  the  team's halfback Bob Hails scored 102
13    points during  the  season  to  become  the  first  All-State
14    football player in Centralia history; and
15        WHEREAS,  Members  of  the  1926 team were: Robert Mapes,
16    Earl Eggers, Clarence Curl, Glendon Grimes, Fred Wham, Donald
17    Roper, Luther Neubauer, Myron Addison, Robert Hails, Dee Fox,
18    Veron Frost, Wilfred Niedringhaus, Cliff Hight, Robert Hight,
19    Emmet Woley,  Charles  Pound,  John  Merkelbach,  Merle  Ray,
20    Charles Hurst, Stanley Yuseitis, Raymond Estes, Warren Wells,
21    and  Wilson  Neubauer; the coaches were A. L. Trout and C. I.
22    Linthicum; and
23        WHEREAS, Members of the 1927 team were: Merle Ray, Jimmie
24    Evers, Luther Neubauer, Wilfred Niedringhaus,  Robert  Hails,
25    Earl  Eggers, Paul McCullough, Charles DeWitt, Charles Hurst,
26    Emmet Woley, Myron Addison,  Robert  Hight,  Merrill  Mooney,
27    Clarence  Jolliff, Robert Mapes, Clair Frost, Russell Snyder,
28    Robert Reichel, Eugene Carl, Ray McLaughlin,  Robert  Jensen,
29    and Robert Ray; managers were Forsyth, Conder, and Stout; and
30        WHEREAS, These two teams were the first of an outstanding
31    tradition of football excellence which continues to this day;

 1    therefore, be it
 2        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 3    NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we
 4    join  in  saluting  the  1926  and  1927  football  teams  of
 5    Centralia High School as they are inducted into the Centralia
 6    Sports Hall of Fame; and be it further
 7        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 8    presented to Principal Edgar Coller.
