1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives
3 learned of the recent retirement of Carl Hartmann from the
4 Vernon Hills Park District; and
5 WHEREAS, Carl Hartmann served the park district for over
6 nineteen years as Director; beginning in April of 1978, Carl
7 added many programs and helped develop park area to
8 accommodate the growing population of the area; and
9 WHEREAS, He has been a part of the park district since
10 its formation in 1973, seeing its growth from 7 employees to
11 currently over 20 full-time workers; and
12 WHEREAS, Carl Hartmann saw the growth of the park
13 district from a tiny home on Cherry Valley Road to the
14 spacious Sullivan Community Center; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Hartmann has seen many changes in the park
16 district, including the development of picnic areas and
17 shelters, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, baseball
18 diamonds, a sledding hill, a 157,000 gallon swimming pool,
19 and the Sullivan Community Center and Aquatics Complex; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Hartmann is responsible for securing federal
21 and State grants to aid in the development of park acreage;
22 therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 honor the legacy that Carl Hartmann leaves the Vernon Hills
26 Park District and congratulate him upon his retirement; and
27 be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to Carl Hartmann.
