1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The National Railroad Passenger Corporation has
3 proposed the closure of the Midwest Reservation Sales Call
4 Center in Chicago; and
5 WHEREAS, Chicago is a major national transportation hub
6 and maintaining this facility is vital to the region; and
7 WHEREAS, This closure will greatly affect the lives of
8 over 400 Chicago employees; these diligent and hard-working
9 individuals play a valuable role in the day-to-day operations
10 of Amtrak; and
11 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has made a significant
12 investment in the continuation and improvement of
13 Amtrak-operated rail passenger service within and through our
14 State; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17 urge the President of Amtrak and its Directors to maintain
18 the important Reservation Sales Call Center in Illinois and
19 to diligently explore all options toward that goal; and be it
20 further
21 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
22 forwarded to the President of Amtrak.
