 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to  learn
 3    of  the death of Ronald Buikema of South Holland on Thursday,
 4    May 8, 1997; and
 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Buikema, a senior law  partner  at  Buikema,
 6    Hiskes,   Dillner,   O'Donnell   &  Marovich,  was  also  the
 7    corporation counsel for the Villages  of  South  Holland  and
 8    Lynwood; and
 9        WHEREAS,  He  was  a member of the Illinois State Central
10    Republican  Committee,  a  member   of   the   Illinois   Bar
11    Association,  and  past  president  of the South Suburban Bar
12    Association; and
13        WHEREAS, Ronald Buikema  leaves  a  legacy  of  community
14    involvement  and  civic  concern  that  will long inspire the
15    citizens of  this  State;  he  was  president  of  the  Peace
16    Christian  Reformed  Church Council and a member of the board
17    of directors at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and
18        WHEREAS, He served on the board of directors  at  Ingalls
19    Memorial   Hospital,   South   Suburban   College,   Barnabus
20    Foundation,  and  the  Valparaiso Law School Alumni Board; he
21    was also a  member  of  the  South  Holland  Lions  Club,  an
22    advisory board member of Restoration Ministries, and a former
23    board  member of Calvin Christian and Elim Christian Schools;
24    and
25        WHEREAS, Ronald Buikema will  be  deeply  missed  by  his
26    family and friends, especially his wife, Ruth; his daughters,
27    Dr. Ann Wiarda and Sara Buikema; his sons, Paul and Joel; his
28    sisters,  Gertrude and LaVerne; and his brothers, William and
29    Robert; therefore, be it
30        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
31    NINETIETH  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

 1    note with sorrow and regret the death of Ronald  Buikema  and
 2    extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
 3    be it further
 4        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 5    presented to his widow, Ruth Buikema, as an expression of our
 6    sympathy.
