1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Village of Oak Park, Illinois will celebrate
3 "Art Replogle Day" on Wednesday, June 25, 1997; and
4 WHEREAS, Arthur Replogle is the President and CEO of Oak
5 Park Development Corporation; he is the former executive of
6 the world's largest manufacturer of geographical globes,
7 Replogle Globes, Inc.; and
8 WHEREAS, Arthur Replogle was born and raised in Altoona,
9 Pennsylvania; he attended Washington and Jefferson College,
10 where he majored in English and Economics; he served in the
11 United States Navy from 1943 to 1946; Arthur attended Harvard
12 Business School; Arthur and his wife Ruth have three
13 children; and
14 WHEREAS, Arthur Replogle is a past president of the
15 Rotary Club of Oak Park, Geographic Society of Chicago, the
16 River Forest Tennis Club, Oak Park/River Forest High School
17 Board of Education, the Thatcher Woods Area Council of the
18 Boy Scouts of America, and the Oak Park YMCA Board; he has
19 been a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Oak
20 Park Country Club; he has served on the Oak Park Area Arts
21 Council, District 97 Education Foundation, the National
22 Presbyterian council for Chaplains and Service Personnel
23 executive board, the Chamber of Commerce, past Champaign
24 Chairman of Community Chest, and Fire and Police Commissioner
25 of River Forest; and
26 WHEREAS, Arthur Replogle currently serves as Trustee for
27 West Suburban Hospital Medical Center; Vice President,
28 Downtown Oak Park Corporation; Vice President, Concordia West
29 Suburban College of Nursing; Charter Board Member, Frank
30 Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation, Oak Park, Illinois;
31 Director, West Suburban Hospital Medical Center Foundation;
32 as a member of the Strategic Planning Council for Concordia

1 University; and as a member of the President's Council for
2 Rosary College; and
3 WHEREAS, Arthur Replogle has received many accolades and
4 awards including: Boss of the Year, National Secretaries
5 Association; Silver Beaver, Boy Scouts of America; Vigil
6 Member, Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America; Silver
7 Antelope, Boy Scouts of America; Distinguished Citizen Award,
8 Boy Scouts of America; the Charter Knight Award, Oak Park
9 Hospital; Avenue Lake Plaza Creative Leadership Award;
10 President's Award, Concordia University; Carl Winters
11 Community Merit Award, Oak Park Rotary; Paul Harris Fellow,
12 Rotary International; and the Good Scout Award, Boy Scouts of
13 America; and
14 WHEREAS, Since 1974, Arthur Replogle has held the
15 position of President and CEO of the Oak Park Development
16 Corporation; soon he will retire from this position;
17 therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 commend Arthur Replogle as he retires from the Oak Park
21 Development Corporation; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to Arthur Replogle of Oak Park, Illinois.
