 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of this House are saddened to  learn
 3    of  the death of Mr. Roscoe Elsworth Mitchell, Jr. of Chicago
 4    on April 10, 1998; and
 5        WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago on August 27,  1934,  the
 6    son of Mary and Roscoe Mitchell, Sr.; and
 7        WHEREAS,  He  graduated  from  Englewood  High School and
 8    received a bachelor's degree from the University of  Illinois
 9    and a master's degree from the University of Chicago; and
10        WHEREAS,  A  veteran  of  the  United States Army, Roscoe
11    Mitchell held the positions of Director of  Equal  Employment
12    Opportunities  for  Zenith Electronics and Executive Director
13    of the Talent Assistance Program; most recently he served  as
14    a  General  Manager  of  Real  Estate for the Chicago Transit
15    Authority; and
16        WHEREAS, He served his  community  as  a  member  of  the
17    University  of  Illinois  Dad's  Association,  St.  Felicitas
18    Finance Board, a Silver Beaver recipient of the Boy Scouts of
19    America, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; and
20        WHEREAS,  He  was  also  a  member  of  the Fifties Black
21    Illini, The Druids, The Assembly,  The  M&M's,  and  the  Rat
22    Pack; and
23        WHEREAS,  His  passing  will be deeply felt by his family
24    and friends,  especially  his  wife,  Jackie;  his  children,
25    Steven,  Karen,  Roslyn,  Valerie,  and  Robert;  his sister,
26    Eleanor;  and  his  grandchildren,  Jordan,  Stephanie,   and
27    Steven, Jr.; therefore, be it
28        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
29    NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we
30    note  with  sorrow  and  regret  the death of Roscoe Elsworth

 1    Mitchell, Jr. and wish to express our sincere condolences  to
 2    his family and friends; and be it further
 3        RESOLVED,  That  a suitable copy of this resolution shall
 4    be presented to Mrs. Jackie Mitchell.
