1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 John Scott of Blue Mound will celebrate the sixtieth
8 anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, John and Iva Scott were united in holy matrimony
10 on May 8, 1938; and
11 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Jane Beck, Nancy
12 Jo Batman, and David Scott; and
13 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
14 highest plateaus when a couple such as John and Iva Scott
15 celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary; and
16 WHEREAS, John and Iva Scott stand as examples of the best
17 of our society, and their love and devotion to each other and
18 to their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that
19 hard work, dedication, and love can make a difference in
20 today's world; therefore be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
23 congratulate John and Iva Scott on the occasion of their
24 sixtieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
25 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children
26 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
27 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
28 further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
