1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Northern Ireland Peace Agreement, announced
3 April 10, 1998, marks an historic event and an opportunity to
4 begin to resolve long-standing divisions within Ireland and
5 between Ireland and the United Kingdom; and
6 WHEREAS, The Honorable George Mitchell, former majority
7 leader of the United States Senate, served as Chief
8 Negotiator and he deserves credit, gratitude, and
9 congratulations for the Agreement; and
10 WHEREAS, It is the sense of this House that the efforts
11 and leadership of the Honorable George Mitchell should be
12 acknowledged and recognized; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 honor and acknowledge the efforts and leadership of the
16 Honorable George Mitchell in securing the Northern Ireland
17 Peace Agreement; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the Honorable George Mitchell.
