1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize
3 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
4 well-being of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, Edwin H. Griffith was educated at Lake Forest
6 College, the University of Cincinnati, Northern Illinois
7 University, Western Illinois University, and the University
8 of Iowa; and
9 WHEREAS, His career brought him to teach at the
10 University of Cincinnati, Ela-Vernon High School, Adlai E.
11 Stevenson High School, Western Illinois University, Cedar
12 Rapids Community School, and Peoria Public Schools District
13 150, where he has served for 25 years and is retiring June
14 30, 1998 after 5 years as superintendent; and
15 WHEREAS, As superintendent he oversaw the establishment
16 of the first charter school in the State of Illinois, located
17 in Peoria; and
18 WHEREAS, Dr. Edwin H. Griffith has served with loyalty
19 and distinction; he is indeed worthy of our highest praise;
20 therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
23 congratulate Dr. Edwin H. Griffith as he retires as
24 Superintendent of the Peoria Public Schools District 150 and
25 commend him for his dedicated service; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to Dr. Edwin H. Griffith.
