1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Danville District 118
4 special education teacher Janice Mason; Mrs. Mason recently
5 received the award of excellence presented during the
6 Illinois State Board of Education Teacher of the Year
7 banquet; and
8 WHEREAS, Janice Mason taught for one year at Garfield
9 Elementary School, and has taught special education at the
10 high school for 16 years; she was one of 13 finalists for
11 the Teacher of the Year award; and
12 WHEREAS, Janice Mason is a graduate of Central High
13 School in Grand Forks, North Dakota; she received her
14 Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, and her
15 Master's and Doctorate from Illinois State University; and
16 WHEREAS, Janice Mason began the peer counseling program
17 at Danville High School; she has taught her students "to take
18 responsibility for themselves and work well with others"; and
19 WHEREAS, Janice Mason was nominated for the award by
20 Danville High School Assistant Principal Diana Kirk; and
21 WHEREAS, Janice Mason is the mother of three daughters,
22 Jennifer, Mandy, and Megan; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 congratulate Janice Mason of Danville District 118 on winning
26 an award of excellence; her fellow faculty members, students,
27 family, and the community can be very proud of her and her
28 many accomplishments; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Janice Mason, along with our sincere regards.
