1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The General Assembly is saddened at the loss of
3 State Representative Roger P. McAuliffe and wishes to
4 recognize his outstanding contributions to Illinois citizens;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, As an Illinois State Representative, Roger P.
7 McAuliffe served the citizens of the State of Illinois with
8 dedication and caring from 1973 until 1996, and during his 12
9 consequent terms in the General Assembly he was a strong
10 supporter of legislation to protect and improve the lives of
11 Illinois citizens; and
12 WHEREAS, Roger P. McAuliffe was a valued supporter of the
13 Office of the Secretary of State by sponsoring legislation on
14 behalf of the office, supporting anti-drunk driving and
15 mandatory insurance legislation, and cosponsoring the "Live &
16 Learn" program which provided a source of permanent funding
17 for Illinois libraries and included the first State funding
18 for organ and tissue donor awareness efforts; and
19 WHEREAS, Roger P. McAuliffe's involvement with the Office
20 of the Secretary of State began before he became a
21 legislator; he was the manager of the Chicago North Drivers
22 License Facility; and
23 WHEREAS, In recognition of the lasting mark that the late
24 Representative Roger P. McAuliffe made upon Illinois
25 government and his many accomplishments, Roger McAuliffe
26 deserves to have his achievements recalled by future
27 generations; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
30 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Chicago North Drivers
31 License Facility at 5401 North Elston Avenue in Chicago be

1 renamed the Roger P. McAuliffe Drivers License Facility; and
2 be it further
3 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Representative Roger P. McAuliffe,
5 to the Secretary of State, and to the Director of Central
6 Management Services.
