 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Albert W. Scott II of Carrollton on Thursday,
 4    April 3, 1997; and
 5        WHEREAS, He was born in Carrollton on November 21,  1916,
 6    the son of Rollins L. and Ada M. Farrelly Scott; he graduated
 7    from  Carrollton  High School and Shurtleff College in Alton;
 8    and
 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Scott was  a  career  military  officer  who
10    retired  with  the  rank  of  major  in 1963 with 22 years of
11    active duty in the United States Air Force; he flew 32 combat
12    missions with the 490th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force in
13    Europe and  was  awarded  the  Air  Medal  along  with  other
14    decorations; and
15        WHEREAS,  Following  his discharge, Mr. Scott returned to
16    Carrollton to become owner and publisher  of  the  Carrollton
17    Gazette-Patriot in 1963; and
18        WHEREAS,  He  was  a  member  of  the  490th  Bomb  Group
19    Association, a former member of the Carrollton Lions Club and
20    Jaycees,  and was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in
21    Carrollton; and
22        WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt  by  his  family
23    and   friends,   especially  his  wife,  June;  his  son  and
24    daughter-in-law, Al and Annette Scott III; his daughters  and
25    sons-in-law,  Alan  and  Esther  Baldwin,  Suzanne Scott, and
26    Gordon and Betty Jean  Bamberg;  his  grandchildren,  Joshua,
27    Deborah,   Michelle,   Casey,  Benjamin,  Tony,  Rachel,  and
28    Katelynn; and his brother and sister-in-law, James and Hellon
29    Scott; therefore, be it
30        RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
31    OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret

 1    the death of Albert  W.  Scott  II  and  extend  our  sincere
 2    condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
 3        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 4    presented to his widow, June Scott.
