$GRANTS-ST BD ED                                                           

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Appropriates $1,500,000 from the  General  Revenue  Fund  to  the      
   State  Board of Education to operate the Giant Steps pilot program and      
   make grants to school districts  for  the  purpose  of  autism  study,      
   evaluation, and related teacher training.  Effective July 1, 1997.
