Short description: 
PUB AID-NON-CITIZEN CATEGORIES                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code.  Provides that  non-citizens      
   who  are  admitted  as  Cuban or Haitian entrants, who are admitted as      
   Amerasian immigrants, or who have a pending or approved petition under      
   the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986 and are otherwise  eligible      
   may  receive cash or medical assistance under the Code. Effective July      
   1, 1998.                                                                    
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          305 ILCS 5/1-12 new                                                  
        Further amends the Illinois Public Aid Code.  Provides  that  the      
   State  of  Illinois  adopts the Family Violence Option as described in      
   the Social Security Act.                                                    
          FISCAL NOTE (Dpt. of Human Services)                                 
          HB 3446 would have a minimal fiscal impact on DHS.

   certain  battered immigrants as defined in the Personal Responsibility      
   and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 if they are  otherwise      
   eligible.
