House Sponsors: COWLISHAW-GIGLIO-MCCARTHY Short description: SCH CD-TECHNOLOGY NETWORK Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code to remove language that limits the statewide technology network to public schools. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 105 ILCS 5/2-3.118 Adds reference to: 105 ILCS 5/2-3.118 new Changes the title and replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code to require the State Board of Education to provide nonpublic elementary and secondary, non-profit, non-home based schools with parts on the statewide educational network of the State Board of Education so long as that access does not diminish the services available to public schools and students. Requires the State Board of Education to charge for that access to offset its cost and provides that the access may be used only for secular educational purposes.
