Senate Sponsors: PETKA. Short description: CRIM CD & CORR-CONTRBND-PRISON Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Expands the offenses of bringing or possessing contraband in a penal institution to include bringing onto or possessing contraband on penal grounds. Provides that certain persons are absolutely liable for the offenses. Provides that bringing or possessing a chemical agent on penal grounds is a Class 1 felony. Provides that delivery of chemical agents on penal grounds by an employee of a penal institution is a Class X felony. Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Deletes provision that requires grievance procedures by prisoners to allow them to communicate grievances directly to the Director of Corrections or some person designated by the Director. Effective immediately.
