Short description: 
ACUPUNCTURE PRAC-ISSUE LICENSE                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Acupuncture Practice Act to provide that on and  after      
   January 1, 2000, the Department of Professional Regulation shall issue      
   a  license  to  an  applicant  who submits proof of graduating from an      
   accredited  school,  in  addition  to  meeting  current  qualification      
   requirements.                                                               
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        Provides that on and after January 1, 2002 (instead of January 1,      
   2000) an applicant shall submit proof of graduating from an accredited      
   school or proof of  completing  a  comprehensive  educational  program      
   approved  by  the  Department  of  Professional Regulation (instead of      
   proof of graduating from a foreign college of acupuncture and oriental      
   medicine).  On January 1,  2002,  removes  the  requirement  that  the      
   applicant  meet  any  other  qualifications established by rule of the      
   Department.
