SCHOENBERG-COULSON-GASH-GARRETT AND DART.

(PARKER-OBAMA)

   720 ILCS 5/24-8                                                             

        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Provides that  the  local  law      
   enforcement agency shall use the best available information, including      
   a  firearms  trace, to determine how and from whom a person who is not      
   permitted by  federal  or  State  law  to  possess  a  firearm  gained      
   possession  of  a firearm (now the provision applies only when the law      
   enforcement agency recovers the firearm from a person under  21  years      
   of age).                                                                    
          STATE MANDATES NOTE (Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs)        
          HB76 creates a local government organization and structure           
          mandate for which State reimbursement is not required.               
          FISCAL NOTE (Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs)                
          HB76 will not have a fiscal impact on DCCA.
