BUGIELSKI-MCKEON AND NOVAK.

   35 ILCS 200/15-172                                                          

        Amends the Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead  Exemption      
   in  the  Property  Tax  Code.  Provides that beginning in taxable year      
   2000, the exemption shall be available to persons 62 years of  age  or      
   older  (now  65  years  of age or older) and the qualifying individual      
   shall have an income of  $37,000  or  less  (now,  $35,000  or  less).      
   Provides   that   beginning  January  1,  2001  the  household  income      
   limitation for the exemption shall be subject  to  annual  adjustments      
   equal  to  the  percentage  of  increase  in the previous year for the      
   Consumer Price Index published by the federal Department of Labor.
