Short description:
IDPA-TANF-CHILD CARE

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code in relation to child care
benefits for recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
(TANF). Provides that it is the General Assembly's intent that, for
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, to the extent resources
permit, the Department of Human Services shall establish an income
eligibility threshold of 60% of the State median income. (Under
current law, the intent is that for fiscal year 1998 the income
eligibility be 50% of the State median income.) Provides that
families already receiving child care assistance on July 1, 1997 shall
remain eligible for that assistance (rather than remain eligible for
   fiscal year 1998). Effective immediately.
