Short description: 
NURSING HOME-ELOPING                                                       

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Nursing Home Care Act.  Provides that  the  Department      
   of Public Health shall prescribe minimum standards that shall regulate      
   procedures  that  prevent  a  resident  from  eloping  by  leaving the      
   building without supervision, including procedures that will alert the      
   facility staff if there is an elopement, which shall  include  use  of      
   equipment  on  all exterior doors that automatically signals a patient      
   elopement.  Provides that any exterior door that is supervised  during      
   certain  periods  of  the  day  may have a device that disconnects the      
   signal on a part-time basis when there is direct supervision  of  that      
   door. Provides that if there is constant 24-hour a day supervision for      
   exterior  doors  that  prevents  elopement  by  a  patient,  automatic      
   signaling equipment is not required.
