House Sponsors: SLONE-GASH AND DAVIS,MONIQUE. Short description: CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY ACT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Consumer Product Safety Act. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall create, maintain, and update a list of consumer products that fail to conform to a safety requirement enforced by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission or by the State of Illinois or that have been recalled for safety reasons. Provides that no commercial user may distribute in commerce a consumer product that is on the list of products, and that violation is a Class C misdemeanor. Authorizes injunction actions against violators. Exempts products to which the Children's Product Safety Act applies.
