Short description: 
CRIM CD-DOMESTIC BATTERY-CHILD                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Provides that domestic battery      
   is a Class 3 felony if the defendant causes bodily harm to a family or      
   household member in the presence of a person under 18  years  of  age.      
   Effective immediately.                                                      
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          730 ILCS 5/5-5-6                from Ch. 38, par. 1005-5-6           
        Deletes the title  and  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.      
   Amends  the Criminal Code of 1961 and the Unified Code of Corrections.      
   Provides that a defendant convicted of domestic battery is liable  for      
   the  cost  of any counseling, at the discretion of the court, required      
   for a child under 18 years of age who is the child of the offender  or      
   of  the  victim  if  the  child was present and witnessed the domestic      
   battery of the victim.

          The bill would not increase the number of judges needed.
