 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives wish to recognize notable achievements of the
 4    citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS,  It  has come to our attention that Jenny Marine
 6    of Naperville was recently accepted to the 2002 USA Triathlon
 7    National Resident Team; and

 8        WHEREAS, Jenny Marine is one of six women and six men  to
 9    take  part  in this prestigious program that is geared toward
10    training  athletes  for  world  events  and  ultimately   the
11    Olympics;  she will be spending the upcoming year in training
12    at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado;
13    and

14        WHEREAS, Jenny Marine is a 1993  graduate  of  Naperville
15    North  High  School,  where  she  currently  holds the school
16    record for the 1600 meter run; she has been  a  math  teacher
17    and  assistant  coach  for  the  Girls  Cross Country Team at
18    Naperville North High School for the last five years; and

19        WHEREAS, Some of Jenny Marine's  recent  race  highlights
20    are:  State Champion in the 2001 USATF 10K State Championship
21    in Oak Park; age group 25-29  National  Champion  and  second
22    overall  in the 2001 National Triathlon Championship in Coeur
23    d'Alene, Idaho; first in  the  25-29  age  group  and  second
24    overall  (10K  run  -  36:55)  in  the  2001 Mrs. T's Chicago
25    Triathlon; first overall in the  2001  Danskin  Triathlon  in
26    Naperville; second overall with a finish ahead of all pros in
27    the  2001  Memphis  in  May  Triathlon in Memphis, Tennessee;
28    126th of over 5,000 women in the 2000 Boston Marathon;  ninth
29    in   the   20-24   age   group  in  the  1999  Ironman  World
30    Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; first  overall  in  the
31    1999 Mrs. T's Chicago Triathlon; first in the 20-24 age group
32    and   third   overall   in  the  1999  Danskin  Triathlon  in

 1    Naperville; first in  the  20-24  age  group  (qualified  for
 2    Hawaii)  in  the 1999 Gulf Coast Half Ironman in Panama City,
 3    Florida; and  138th  of  over  5,000  women  and  first  from
 4    Illinois in the 1999 Boston Marathon; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 6    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 7    we congratulate Jenny Marine on being accepted  to  the  2002
 8    USA  Triathlon National Resident Team and we wish her well in
 9    all of her future endeavors; and be it further

10        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
11    presented to Jenny Marine as an expression of our esteem.
