Section 2002.10 Authority
This Part is issued by the Director of Insurance pursuant to Section 401 of the Illinois Insurance Code which empowers the Director " . . . to make reasonable rules and regulations as may be necessary for making effective . . ." the insurance laws of this State. This Part implements Article XXVI and Section 149 of the Illinois Insurance Code by establishing minimum standards, guidelines, and interpretations for the form, content, practice and method of advertising policies of accident and sickness insurance offered for sale in Illinois.
Section 2002.20 Purpose
The purpose of this Part is to assure truthful and adequate disclosure of all material and relevant information in the advertising of accident and sickness insurance. This purpose is intended to be accomplished by the establishment of, and adherence to, certain minimum standards and guidelines of conduct in the advertising of accident and sickness insurance in a manner which prevents unfair competition among insurers and is conducive to the accurate presentation and description to the insurance buying public of a policy of such insurance offered through various advertising media.
