| 2 | | WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump was born in Queens, New |
| 3 | | York to Fred and Mary Trump on June 14, 1946; he attended the |
| 4 | | New York Military Academy and the Wharton School of Finance |
| 5 | | and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, President Trump has had a notable career as a |
| 7 | | real estate developer and businessman; he has written more |
| 8 | | than fourteen books; his first book, The Art of the Deal, was |
| 9 | | published in 1987; he hosted and produced the popular |
| 10 | | television show, The Apprentice, from 2004 to 2015; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, President Trump announced his candidacy for |
| 12 | | President of the United States on June 16, 2015; he accepted |
| 13 | | the Republican nomination in July of 2016 and was elected |
| 14 | | president on November 8, 2016; he was inaugurated as the 45th |
| 15 | | President of the United States on January 20, 2017; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, President Trump's accomplishments during his |
| 17 | | first term included reforming the U.S. tax code, renegotiating |
| 18 | | trade agreements with Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, and South |
| 19 | | Korea, expanding the military, defeating the Islamic State |
| 20 | | (ISIS), responding to the opioid crisis, improving access to |
| 21 | | healthcare for veterans, responding to the COVID-19 global |
| 22 | | pandemic, appointing federal judges, including the nomination |

| 1 | | of three U.S. Supreme Court justices, and lowering the cost of |
| 2 | | prescription drugs; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, President Trump was elected to his second term as |
| 4 | | president on November 5, 2024, becoming only the second |
| 5 | | president, along with President Grover Cleveland, to serve two |
| 6 | | non-consecutive terms; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, President Trump has been married to his wife, |
| 8 | | Melania, since 2005, and together they have one son, Barron; |
| 9 | | he also has four adult children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and |
| 10 | | Tiffany and 10 grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 12 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 13 | | we recognize the life of President Donald J. Trump as he begins |
| 14 | | his term as the 47th President of the United States; and be it |
| 15 | | further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That we congratulate President Trump on his |
| 17 | | birthday on June 14, 2025; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to President Trump as a symbol of our respect and |
| 20 | | esteem. |
