HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maulana Ali Waller Sr. of Peoria, who passed away on February 11, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Maulana Waller was born in Peoria to Henry Waller and Hazel Williams on May 4, 1971; he graduated from Manual High School in 1989 and attended Westmar University; he received his certified nursing assistant license from Illinois Central College and became his sister Angie's caregiver; and

WHEREAS, Maulana Waller was affectionately known as "Skanie"; he played a vital role in his nieces and nephews lives, always telling them the truth and keeping it real; he came from a big family that he loved and protected; his faith was very important to him; and

WHEREAS, Maulana Waller had a love for music and had notebooks full of raps; he enjoyed reading books of all genres, cooking, and telling jokes; and

WHEREAS, Maulana Waller was preceded in death by his father, Henry Waller; his brother, Henry Waller Jr.; his sisters, Angela and Twila Waller; and all of his grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Maulana Waller is survived by Micheal and Hazel Williams; his sons, Sean Perry and Maulana Ali Waller Jr.; his daughter, J'Khyra Waller; his brothers, Otto Waller, Aaron Waller, and Terence Young; his sisters, Erika Waller, Corine (Kerry) Walker, Tamika Williams, Towanna (Kim) Wyatt, and Micah (Larry) Davis; his uncle, Eddie (Kay) Ellis Jr.; his special aunts and uncles, Vinnie Bey, Henrietta Williams, Evelyn (James) Pierce, Georgia Common-Stevenson, Josephine Davis, Ernestine Brock, Bernice Robinson, Betty Williams, Michelle (Barney) Carter, Shirley Williams, Willie (Helen) March, Lepear (Linda) Smith, Vernon Smith, Ronnie (Lisa) Williams, and Haywood (Shirette) Perry; his special cousins, Ronnie Common, Alan Smith, and Marvin Jordan Sr.; his best friends, David Webster, Darrell Jackson, Darnell Clark, and Corey King; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Maulana Ali Waller Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Maulana Waller as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
