| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Mildred E. "Millie" Pryor of Rockford, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on January 2, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Millie Pryor, the daughter of George and Vennie | ||||||
| 6 | (Tarpley) Barkley, was born in Peach Orchard, Arkansas on June | ||||||
| 7 | 17, 1927; she married Oliver H. Pryor in Loves Park, Illinois | ||||||
| 8 | on June 17, 1950; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Millie Pryor worked at J.I. Case and Woolworth's | ||||||
| 10 | in Loves Park before retiring from the credit department of | ||||||
| 11 | Sears Roebuck & Co. in 1982; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Millie Pryor, along with her husband, were | ||||||
| 13 | founders and former members of Windsor Baptist Church; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Millie Pryor loved baking for others, including | ||||||
| 15 | making special character birthday cakes for her grandchildren, | ||||||
| 16 | wedding cakes for many young women at her church, and trays of | ||||||
| 17 | cookies for friends; she also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and | ||||||
| 18 | reading; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Millie Pryor was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 20 | parents; her husband; her great-grandson, Noah Schimmel; her | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | brother, Clint Barkley; and her sisters, Mary Barkley, Thelma | ||||||
| 2 | Smith, Helen Herd, and Ellen Reid; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Millie Pryor is survived by her son, Ronald | ||||||
| 4 | (Becky) Pryor; her daughter, Karen (Bill) Durtschi; five | ||||||
| 5 | grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her special family | ||||||
| 6 | member, Debra Bokath; her sister, Kathy (Henry) Greene; and | ||||||
| 7 | many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 10 | Mildred E. "Millie" Pryor and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 11 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
| 12 | it further | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of Millie Pryor as an expression of our | ||||||
| 15 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
