SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred E. "Millie" Pryor of Rockford, who passed away on January 2, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Millie Pryor, the daughter of George and Vennie (Tarpley) Barkley, was born in Peach Orchard, Arkansas on June 17, 1927; she married Oliver H. Pryor in Loves Park, Illinois on June 17, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Millie Pryor worked at J.I. Case and Woolworth's in Loves Park before retiring from the credit department of Sears Roebuck & Co. in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Millie Pryor, along with her husband, were founders and former members of Windsor Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Millie Pryor loved baking for others, including making special character birthday cakes for her grandchildren, wedding cakes for many young women at her church, and trays of cookies for friends; she also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading; and

WHEREAS, Millie Pryor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her great-grandson, Noah Schimmel; her brother, Clint Barkley; and her sisters, Mary Barkley, Thelma Smith, Helen Herd, and Ellen Reid; and

WHEREAS, Millie Pryor is survived by her son, Ronald (Becky) Pryor; her daughter, Karen (Bill) Durtschi; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her special family member, Debra Bokath; her sister, Kathy (Henry) Greene; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mildred E. "Millie" Pryor and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Millie Pryor as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
