SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Steven L. "Steve" Mullens of Hanna
4City, who passed away on March 15, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was born to Dorothy (Burdette)
6Mullens and Clarence "Ed" Mullens in Batavia, New York on May
76, 1948; he graduated from Limestone Community High School in
81966; he then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in
9Vietnam;he later served as a Marine Security Guard at
10embassies all over the world before being honorably
11discharged; he married Angelica "Angie" Mullens on February
1225, 1973; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens began his career in manufacturing
14at the Hyster Company; he also worked for the Illinois
15Department of Corrections; he spent most of his career as a
16supervisor at Caterpillar, Inc.; he and his wife owned and
17operated Hannah's Parlor in Hanna City for 28 years, where he
18hosted and was a member of the local coffee klatch; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was a member of St. Jude Catholic
20Church in North Peoria; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was known for his enthusiastic

1spirit in supporting any sporting activity in which his wife,
2children, or grandchildren were involved; he coached local
3softball teams for his daughters, led cheers at sporting
4events, and marched in parades to support the Peoria Notre
5Dame High School band; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was a fan of the New York Mets; he
7also loved playing cards, playing the spoons, and dancing; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was preceded in death by his
9parents and his older brother, Timothy Mullens; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Steve Mullens is survived by his children,
11Stephanie (Randy) Hampton, Antonia Mullens, and Joshua (Anna)
12Mullens; four grandsons; his brothers, Bob (Sandy) Mullens and
13Marty (Susie) Mullens; and one niece and many nephews;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Steven L. Mullens and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Steve Mullens as an expression of
