| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Steven L. "Steve" Mullens of Hanna | ||||||
| 4 | City, who passed away on March 15, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was born to Dorothy (Burdette) | ||||||
| 6 | Mullens and Clarence "Ed" Mullens in Batavia, New York on May | ||||||
| 7 | 6, 1948; he graduated from Limestone Community High School in | ||||||
| 8 | 1966; he then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in | ||||||
| 9 | Vietnam;he later served as a Marine Security Guard at | ||||||
| 10 | embassies all over the world before being honorably | ||||||
| 11 | discharged; he married Angelica "Angie" Mullens on February | ||||||
| 12 | 25, 1973; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens began his career in manufacturing | ||||||
| 14 | at the Hyster Company; he also worked for the Illinois | ||||||
| 15 | Department of Corrections; he spent most of his career as a | ||||||
| 16 | supervisor at Caterpillar, Inc.; he and his wife owned and | ||||||
| 17 | operated Hannah's Parlor in Hanna City for 28 years, where he | ||||||
| 18 | hosted and was a member of the local coffee klatch; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was a member of St. Jude Catholic | ||||||
| 20 | Church in North Peoria; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was known for his enthusiastic | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | spirit in supporting any sporting activity in which his wife, | ||||||
| 2 | children, or grandchildren were involved; he coached local | ||||||
| 3 | softball teams for his daughters, led cheers at sporting | ||||||
| 4 | events, and marched in parades to support the Peoria Notre | ||||||
| 5 | Dame High School band; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was a fan of the New York Mets; he | ||||||
| 7 | also loved playing cards, playing the spoons, and dancing; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 9 | parents and his older brother, Timothy Mullens; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Steve Mullens is survived by his children, | ||||||
| 11 | Stephanie (Randy) Hampton, Antonia Mullens, and Joshua (Anna) | ||||||
| 12 | Mullens; four grandsons; his brothers, Bob (Sandy) Mullens and | ||||||
| 13 | Marty (Susie) Mullens; and one niece and many nephews; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 17 | Steven L. Mullens and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Steve Mullens as an expression of | ||||||
