SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Steven L. "Steve" Mullens of Hanna City, who passed away on March 15, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was born to Dorothy (Burdette) Mullens and Clarence "Ed" Mullens in Batavia, New York on May 6, 1948; he graduated from Limestone Community High School in 1966; he then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam;he later served as a Marine Security Guard at embassies all over the world before being honorably discharged; he married Angelica "Angie" Mullens on February 25, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens began his career in manufacturing at the Hyster Company; he also worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections; he spent most of his career as a supervisor at Caterpillar, Inc.; he and his wife owned and operated Hannah's Parlor in Hanna City for 28 years, where he hosted and was a member of the local coffee klatch; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in North Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was known for his enthusiastic spirit in supporting any sporting activity in which his wife, children, or grandchildren were involved; he coached local softball teams for his daughters, led cheers at sporting events, and marched in parades to support the Peoria Notre Dame High School band; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was a fan of the New York Mets; he also loved playing cards, playing the spoons, and dancing; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Timothy Mullens; and

WHEREAS, Steve Mullens is survived by his children, Stephanie (Randy) Hampton, Antonia Mullens, and Joshua (Anna) Mullens; four grandsons; his brothers, Bob (Sandy) Mullens and Marty (Susie) Mullens; and one niece and many nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Steven L. Mullens and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steve Mullens as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
