HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Pompeyo Florez on the occasion of his 100th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez was born in Pueblo, Colorado to Tranquilino and Delphina Navarro Campos Florez on April 10, 1925; he attended Creiger and Crane High Schools in Chicago; he served in the U.S. Army as a private first class with the military police from September of 1943 to February of 1946; he married Violetta Marie Avon Castillo Florez at St. Francis Church in Chicago on July 6, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez worked as a baker with the Nabisco Company and as a bus driver for Reavis High School; and

WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez had a great passion for his wife, Violetta; the two would dance in the evenings after dinner with the children watching, often to their favorite songs, which included "At Last" and "Misty"; and

WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez enjoyed running, swimming, tennis, racquetball, walking, and camping with his children; and

WHEREAS, Pompeyo Florez is the father to Rory, Robin, Derek, Scott, Michelle, Caprice, Allison, and Daria and the brother to Cirilo Campos, Lawrence Campos, Salvador Campos, Monica Campos, and Carmen Dale Florez; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Pompeyo Florez on the occasion of his 100th birthday, and we wish many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pompeyo Florez as an expression of our esteem and respect.
