| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the graduating students | ||||||
| 4 | of the City Colleges of Chicago Student Government Association | ||||||
| 5 | (SGA) who have dedicated their time, energy, and passion to | ||||||
| 6 | advocating for their fellow students; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The City Colleges of Chicago SGA provides a forum | ||||||
| 8 | for the open exchange of views and ideas on matters of | ||||||
| 9 | importance to students, defends students' rights, advocates on | ||||||
| 10 | behalf of students, helps to formulate academic and | ||||||
| 11 | institutional policies that affect students, governs student | ||||||
| 12 | clubs and organizations, and plans and sponsors social events | ||||||
| 13 | for students throughout the academic year; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The City Colleges of Chicago SGA participants for | ||||||
| 15 | the 2024-2025 academic year who will graduate this year | ||||||
| 16 | include Student Trustee David Ramirez of the City Colleges of | ||||||
| 17 | Chicago Board of Trustees, who is also a student of Richard J. | ||||||
| 18 | Daley College and serves as chair of the Illinois Community | ||||||
| 19 | College Board Student Advisory Committee, President Laisha | ||||||
| 20 | Garcia and Secretary Zixuan "Zoe" Zhang of the Daley College | ||||||
| 21 | SGA, President Mia Meyers of the Harry S. Truman College SGA, | ||||||
| 22 | President Glory Daniels of the Malcolm X College SGA, | ||||||
| 23 | President Ameer Longe, Vice President Caitlin Espinsoa, and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Secretary Jordyn Murry of the Olive-Harvey College SGA, and | ||||||
| 2 | Senators Jovannae Magallanes and Valerie Dutan of the Wilbur | ||||||
| 3 | Wright College SGA; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, These City Colleges of Chicago SGA participants | ||||||
| 5 | have demonstrated authentic and servant leadership beyond the | ||||||
| 6 | classroom, using their voices to responsibly and | ||||||
| 7 | compassionately advocate for their fellow students; their | ||||||
| 8 | commitment, including their support for raising awareness and | ||||||
| 9 | funding for student mental health initiatives, has made a real | ||||||
| 10 | difference in the lives of their fellow students and | ||||||
| 11 | communities across Chicago; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we congratulate the 2024-2025 graduates of the City Colleges | ||||||
| 15 | of Chicago Student Government Association (SGA), and we thank | ||||||
| 16 | them for their commitment to serving their fellow students, | ||||||
| 17 | their colleges, and the City of Chicago; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the City Colleges of Chicago as an expression of | ||||||
| 20 | our admiration and respect. | ||||||
