| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate Anne Flanigan Bassi on the occasion of her | ||||||
| 4 | retirement as Moraine Township Supervisor; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Township Supervisor Flanigan Bassi possesses a | ||||||
| 6 | Master of Science in Taxation; outside of her duties to the | ||||||
| 7 | township, she works professionally as a certified public | ||||||
| 8 | accountant (CPA) and operates a private tax practice; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Township Supervisor Flanigan Bassi has served as | ||||||
| 10 | Moraine Township Supervisor since 2013; during her tenure, she | ||||||
| 11 | has implemented a number of programs and initiatives, | ||||||
| 12 | including Volunteer Income Tax Assistance in conjunction with | ||||||
| 13 | the IRS, access to health care through the Affordable Care | ||||||
| 14 | Act, special food access and deliveries for Food Pantry | ||||||
| 15 | clients during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Hunger Summit to | ||||||
| 16 | assess the food insecurity epidemic within the township, | ||||||
| 17 | leading to expanded food programs, particularly for students | ||||||
| 18 | and families with children; she also spearheaded the efforts | ||||||
| 19 | to create the Community Mental Health Board; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Anne Flanigan Bassi has served her community and | ||||||
| 21 | Lake County in a number of other roles over the decades; she | ||||||
| 22 | currently serves on the Lake County Housing and Community | ||||||

| 1 | Development Commission, a position she has held since 2017, | ||||||
| 2 | and as a member of the First Bank of Chicago Community Advisory | ||||||
| 3 | Committee; she previously served as a member of the Highland | ||||||
| 4 | Park Hospital Community Advisory Committee from 2007 to 2022, | ||||||
| 5 | serving as chair for ten years, as a member of the Lake County | ||||||
| 6 | Board from 2002 to 2012, and on the school board of Highland | ||||||
| 7 | Park-Highwood School District 111 from 1984 to 1986, later | ||||||
| 8 | taking part in a public committee that led to the district's | ||||||
| 9 | consolidation in the early 1990s into what is now North Shore | ||||||
| 10 | School District 112; she also previously served on the Lake | ||||||
| 11 | County Forest Preserves Board of Commissioners and the Lake | ||||||
| 12 | County Stormwater Management Commission, and she was president | ||||||
| 13 | of the Highland Park-Highwood League of Women Voters; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Township Supervisor Flanigan Bassi has been the | ||||||
| 15 | recipient of a number of accolades, including being named the | ||||||
| 16 | 2013 Lake County Affordable Housing Advocate of the Year and | ||||||
| 17 | the 2014 City of Highland Park Humanitarian of the Year; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Township Supervisor Flanigan Bassi and her | ||||||
| 19 | husband, Victor Bassi, have been residents of Highland Park | ||||||
| 20 | since 1973, and they raised their two daughters there; | ||||||
| 21 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 23 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Anne | ||||||

| 1 | Flanigan Bassi on her retirement as Moraine Township | ||||||
| 2 | Supervisor, and we thank her for her years of public service to | ||||||
| 3 | Moraine Township, the City of Highland Park, the City of | ||||||
| 4 | Highwood, and Lake County; and be it further | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to Township Supervisor Flanigan Bassi as an | ||||||
| 7 | expression of our esteem and respect. | ||||||
