| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Ralph E. Glasford of Anna, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on January 22, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ralph Glasford was born to Ralph and Hallie | ||||||
| 6 | (Stutes) Glasford in Pomona Township on June 11, 1942; he | ||||||
| 7 | attended Anna-Jonesboro High School, Shawnee Community | ||||||
| 8 | College, and John A. Logan Community College; he enlisted in | ||||||
| 9 | the U.S. Army in 1959 and was dishonorably discharged in 1962, | ||||||
| 10 | and he was stationed in Korea during his service; he married | ||||||
| 11 | Darlene L. Richardson in Vienna on November 27, 1963; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Ralph Glasford worked as an assembler at | ||||||
| 13 | Caterpillar, Inc.'s manufacturing facility in Joliet, as a | ||||||
| 14 | machinist for the Florsheim Shoe Company in Anna, and as an | ||||||
| 15 | operator and truck driver at the Anna Stone Quarry; he was last | ||||||
| 16 | employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections; he first | ||||||
| 17 | worked at the Menard Correctional Center in Chester for 17 | ||||||
| 18 | years before transferring to the Big Muddy Correctional Center | ||||||
| 19 | in Ina, where he worked for 17 years and retired with the rank | ||||||
| 20 | of lieutenant; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Ralph Glasford was a member of Anna Heights | ||||||
| 22 | Baptist Church; he was also a member and past chaplain of the | ||||||

| 1 | Beggs-Gurley VFW Post #5222 in Vienna; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Ralph Glasford enjoyed camping and spending time | ||||||
| 3 | with his family; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS,Ralph Glasford was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 5 | parents; his daughter, Sonya Reinier; his grandson, Joshua | ||||||
| 6 | Lowell Reinier; and his sisters, Mayme Petty, Jean Petty, | ||||||
| 7 | Dorothy Goodpasture, and Barbara Porterfield; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Ralph Glasford, at the time of his passing, was | ||||||
| 9 | survived by his wife of 61 years, Darlene; his daughters, | ||||||
| 10 | Robin Sullivan and Gena (David) Grey; his chosen daughter, | ||||||
| 11 | Nicole (Stuart) Butwell; five grandchildren; 12 | ||||||
| 12 | great-grandchildren; his brother, Phillip (Elizabeth) | ||||||
| 13 | Glasford; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 16 | Ralph E. Glasford and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 18 | further | ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Ralph Glasford as an expression of | ||||||
| 21 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
