| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Catherine "Katie" Kronmiller Huther, | ||||||
| 4 | formerly of Springfield, who passed away on April 16, 2025; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Katie Huther was born on August 17, 1934; she was | ||||||
| 7 | raised in Utica, New York; she earned a degree in American | ||||||
| 8 | studies at the University of Rochester in New York; she | ||||||
| 9 | married John Huther, and together they relocated to California | ||||||
| 10 | and Washington through the U.S. Navy and pursued jobs and | ||||||
| 11 | educational pursuits in New York, Michigan, and North Carolina | ||||||
| 12 | before settling in Springfield, Illinois in 1973; they later | ||||||
| 13 | relocated to Seattle, Washington in 2015; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Katie Huther held a variety of jobs, culminating | ||||||
| 15 | in her serving as the assistant for community relations at | ||||||
| 16 | Springfield Public Schools for ten years; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Katie Huther's strong commitment to civic | ||||||
| 18 | engagement led to her involvement with numerous organizations, | ||||||
| 19 | including the Illinois Environmental Council, the League of | ||||||
| 20 | Women Voters, and the PTA; in her later years, she served on | ||||||
| 21 | the boards of the Lincoln Memorial Garden, the Illinois | ||||||
| 22 | Symphony Orchestra, the World Affairs Council of Central | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Illinois, and others; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Katie Huther enjoyed being social with her | ||||||
| 3 | gourmet dinner groups, the Anti-Rust Club, her book club, and | ||||||
| 4 | her bridge club; she also loved traveling with her husband and | ||||||
| 5 | other family members to her family's old homestead in | ||||||
| 6 | Woodgate, New York each summer; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Katie Huther always welcomed friends and family | ||||||
| 8 | with food and entertainment, leaving them with lasting | ||||||
| 9 | memories; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Katie Huther is survived by her husband, John; | ||||||
| 11 | her children, Jeff, Eric, and Melissa; her sister, Jane; and | ||||||
| 12 | six grandchildren; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Catherine "Katie" Kronmiller Huther and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 16 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 17 | her; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Katie Huther as an expression of our | ||||||
| 20 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
