SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/34-18.88 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that the school board of a school district maintaining any of grades 9 through 12 shall require all students who are at least 16 years of age to receive a heart screening and, if a student is 16 years old, to receive another heart screening at the age of 18 years.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.88 and 34-18.88 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.88 new)

Sec. 10-20.88. Heart screening required. The school board of a school district maintaining any of grades 9 through 12 shall require all students who are at least 16 years of age to receive a heart screening and, if a student is 16 years old, to receive another heart screening at the age of 18 years.

Sec. 34-18.88. Heart screening required. The board shall require all students who are at least 16 years of age to receive a heart screening and, if a student is 16 years old, to receive another heart screening at the age of 18 years.
