HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lori Healey of Chicago, who passed away on May 3, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Lori Healey was a transformative force in public service, city planning, and civic development in the City of Chicago who established herself as one of the most respected and sought-after voices in both the public and private sector thanks to her brilliance, indefatigable work ethic, wise judgment, and wit; and

WHEREAS, Lori Healey's early career included stints in both State government and Chicago City Hall, where she served as chief of staff to Mayor Richard M. Daley before running his family's firm, Tur Partners; during this time, she also served as co-leader of Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics in 2009, and she coordinated and planned the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Summit in Chicago as executive director of the host committee in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Lori Healey was appointed as CEO of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, also known as McPier, in 2015; while in this position, she oversaw the McPier-owned properties of Navy Pier and McCormick Place, and she supervised the construction of Wintrust Arena and Marriott Marquis Chicago; she was then hired as regional president of Clayco, the development firm tied to expansions of Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Willis Tower, in 2019; more recently, she joined the Obama Foundation as senior vice president and executive project officer in 2020, where she was leading construction of the Obama Presidential Center's Jackson Park campus; and

WHEREAS, Lori Healey received a number of accolades during her career, including the 2025 Game Changer Award at the 37th Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards; and

WHEREAS, Lori Healey's interests and passions included golfing, the Chicago Bears, her horses, and hot sauce; her greatest joy was spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Lori Healey was a remarkable woman, an inspiring leader, a champion for all, and a tireless advocate for women; she will be remembered as a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, partner, mentor, and friend who remained committed to serving the City of Chicago, shaping its landscape, and making it a better community for everyone; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lori Healey and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lori Healey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
