| 1 | AN ACT concerning State government. | ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly: | ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Department of Transportation Law of the | ||||||
| 5 | Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding | ||||||
| 6 | Section 2705-206 as follows: | ||||||
| 7 | (20 ILCS 2705/2705-206 new) | ||||||
| 8 | Sec. 2705-206. Road safety assessment. The Department | ||||||
| 9 | shall conduct a road safety assessment for the 10 most | ||||||
| 10 | hazardous intersections under State jurisdiction in Will | ||||||
| 11 | County south of Interstate 80. The Department, in consultation | ||||||
| 12 | with local agencies, shall determine the intersections to be | ||||||
| 13 | studied. The road safety assessment shall be a formal, | ||||||
| 14 | independent, comprehensive safety performance review of | ||||||
| 15 | roadway and intersection safety in compliance with 23 CFR 924 | ||||||
| 16 | and provide opportunities for improvement. Expressways shall | ||||||
| 17 | not be included in the road safety assessment. The Department | ||||||
| 18 | shall submit the road safety assessment to the General | ||||||
| 19 | Assembly by January 1, 2028. | ||||||
| 20 | This Section is repealed on July 1, 2028. | ||||||
