| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Sheila Joy (Monti) Bussone of Chetek, | ||||||
| 4 | Wisconsin, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on May 14, | ||||||
| 5 | 2025; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone was born to Vaughn Monti and | ||||||
| 7 | Kathleen Reising in Peoria on September 17, 1970; she was | ||||||
| 8 | raised with her brother, Tony, in Peoria; she attended Peoria | ||||||
| 9 | Public School District 150 and graduated from Woodruff High | ||||||
| 10 | School in 1988; she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics | ||||||
| 11 | from Eastern Illinois University in 1993, where she made | ||||||
| 12 | lifetime friendships; she married Paul Bussone on June 19, | ||||||
| 13 | 2004, and while both were still working in the Peoria School | ||||||
| 14 | District, they purchased their first home in Chetek, | ||||||
| 15 | Wisconsin; they later moved two blocks down the street to a | ||||||
| 16 | home on the lake in 2017, where they resided until her passing; | ||||||
| 17 | and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone began her teaching career at her | ||||||
| 19 | alma mater, Woodruff High School, teaching geometry and other | ||||||
| 20 | mathematical interests; she also taught at Morton High School | ||||||
| 21 | and Peoria Heights High School; she spent her final few years | ||||||
| 22 | in a classroom at Marquette Heights Elementary School, a | ||||||
| 23 | position she thoroughly loved; she retired in 2020; during and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | after her formal teaching days, she tutored all levels of math | ||||||
| 2 | to students from the Peoria area; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone and Paul loved riding | ||||||
| 4 | Harley-Davidson motorcycles; she was a member of the Peoria | ||||||
| 5 | Harley Owners Group (HOG) and the Blue Hills HOG of Rice Lake, | ||||||
| 6 | Wisconsin, and she could often be seen in Harley colors or | ||||||
| 7 | something purple, her favorite color of the rainbow; as a | ||||||
| 8 | hobbyist, she was an avid reader and loved beading bracelets, | ||||||
| 9 | necklaces, and earrings; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 11 | grandmother, Helen Reising; her in-laws, Joe and Evelyn | ||||||
| 12 | Bussone; her brother-in-law, Mark Bussone; and several uncles; | ||||||
| 13 | and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone is survived by her husband, Paul; | ||||||
| 15 | her stepsons, Mitch (Samantha) Bussone and Jared (Tori) | ||||||
| 16 | Bussone; her granddaughter, Dylan Mae Bussone; her caregiver, | ||||||
| 17 | Jackie Brisky; her father and his life partner, Rosie; her | ||||||
| 18 | mother; her brother, Tony Monti; her siblings-in-law, Sue and | ||||||
| 19 | Steve Ohde; her nephews and niece, Eric Ohde, Alex (Haley) | ||||||
| 20 | Ohde, and Rachel (Dean) Marlin; her aunts, Julie, Monica, and | ||||||
| 21 | Mary; numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many | ||||||
| 22 | close friends from Peoria and Chetek; therefore, be it | ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 3 | Sheila Joy (Monti) Bussone and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 4 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
| 5 | it further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Sheila Bussone as an expression of | ||||||
| 8 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
