| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Charles M. "Chuck" Orwig II of |
| 4 | | Kewanee, who passed away on April 9, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was born to C. Merle and Floradele |
| 6 | | (Simpson) Orwig in Galesburg on January 31, 1934; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Galesburg High School in 1951; he married Lenore Jean |
| 8 | | "Jeanne" Hanson in Biloxi, Mississippi on September 12, 1953, |
| 9 | | and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2023; he served in |
| 10 | | the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957, during which he was |
| 11 | | stationed in New York, New York, Biloxi, Mississippi, |
| 12 | | Riverside, California, and Japan; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig worked in sales and service for 58 |
| 14 | | years, retiring in 1996; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was a member of the First |
| 16 | | Presbyterian Church in Kewanee and was active in the Kewanee |
| 17 | | Church Fellowship; he and his wife, Jeanne, volunteered at |
| 18 | | several area hospitals, nursing homes, and churches, dressing |
| 19 | | as Raggedy Andy and Ann and performing musical skits; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was an extremely gifted man; he had |
| 21 | | his own dance band for over 60 years, which he started in high |

| 1 | | school; he enjoyed photography, photo imaging and creating, |
| 2 | | woodworking, computer electronics, and piano tuning and |
| 3 | | repair; he loved spending time with his family and traveling |
| 4 | | with his wife; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was preceded in death by his parents |
| 6 | | and his sisters, Martha Evans, Mildred Kreutzer, and Margaret |
| 7 | | Hill; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig is survived by his daughters, Caron |
| 9 | | (Richard) Walter and Cheryl (Jeff Butts) Orwig; his sons, |
| 10 | | Charles "Chic" (Natosha) Orwig III and Chris (Stephanie) |
| 11 | | Orwig; his foster son, Richard (Debbie) Thompson; nine |
| 12 | | grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two |
| 13 | | great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it |
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Charles M. "Chuck" Orwig II and extend our sincere condolences |
| 17 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 18 | | it further |
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Chuck Orwig as an expression of our |
| 21 | | deepest sympathy. |
