| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of May Young Chin, who passed away on | ||||||
| 4 | February 1, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, May Chin was born in Chicago in 1951; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, May Chin was a pillar of the Chicago Chinatown | ||||||
| 7 | community; she served as treasurer of the Ping Tom Park | ||||||
| 8 | Advisory Council and played a key role in organizing community | ||||||
| 9 | events, including the Back-to-School celebration and | ||||||
| 10 | Trunk-or-Treat; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, May Chin was actively involved in the Chinese | ||||||
| 12 | American Civic Council, working to support immigrant | ||||||
| 13 | communities and promote civic engagement, and she prioritized | ||||||
| 14 | supporting local organizations, including the Chinese American | ||||||
| 15 | Museum of Chicago (CAMOC), where she contributed her story to | ||||||
| 16 | the museum's oral history project; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, May Chin will be remembered for her kindness, | ||||||
| 18 | dedication, generosity, and her commitment to community | ||||||
| 19 | service; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||

| 1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 2 | May Young Chin and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 3 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 4 | further | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to the family of May Chin as an expression of our | ||||||
| 7 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
