| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Clara "Jane" Stetter, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on June 19, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter, the daughter of Clemmie Milton and | ||||||
| 6 | Martha Evelyn Lucille Scribner, was born in Parma, Missouri on | ||||||
| 7 | September 12, 1935; she graduated from Nokomis High School; | ||||||
| 8 | she married Weldon Stetter in Girard on November 7, 1970; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter worked as marketing manager for | ||||||
| 10 | Capitol Machinery, also known as Altorfer Cat, in Springfield; | ||||||
| 11 | and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter volunteered for the St. John Vianney | ||||||
| 13 | Women's Society, where she established the first Christmas | ||||||
| 14 | Cookie Walk fundraiser, now a long-standing annual event; she | ||||||
| 15 | also volunteered for the Heart Program, tutoring one-on-one | ||||||
| 16 | first grade reading at Cantrall Elementary School; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter served as secretary for the Macoupin | ||||||
| 18 | County Republican Central Committee and as program director | ||||||
| 19 | for the Macoupin County Republican Women's Club; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter was an avid gardener who loved | ||||||

| 1 | spending hours in her flower gardens, and she was also an | ||||||
| 2 | accomplished fine china painter; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Jane Setter loved spending time with her husband, | ||||||
| 4 | her daughter, and other family members; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 6 | daughter, Lynda VanRossum, and her brothers, Richard Scribner, | ||||||
| 7 | Clemmie "Buddy" Scribner, and Larry Scribner; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Jane Stetter is survived by her husband of 54 | ||||||
| 9 | years, Weldon; her daughter, Kelly (Jim) Bick; three | ||||||
| 10 | grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bonnie | ||||||
| 11 | (Dave) Books, Sue (Bill) Koons, Kathy (Linh) Pham, and Jerry | ||||||
| 12 | (Krissie) Scribner; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be | ||||||
| 13 | it | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 16 | Clara "Jane" Stetter and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 18 | further | ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Jane Stetter as an expression of our | ||||||
| 21 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
