SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Judith Darlene "Judi" Kingery Dodson of Springfield, who passed away on August 21, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson, the daughter of James J.V. "Jude" and OlaBelle Waneta Yaw Kingery, was born in Jewett on December 3, 1941; she was a lifelong learner, attending several schools and universities; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson owned her own accounting and tax business before changing professions to drive a semi-truck at age 60; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson was involved in the community in a number of ways, including volunteering and working for park districts, working for youth organizations, being a juvenile probation officer, and serving as a foster parent; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson was a member and officer of the Springfield Luncheon Optimist Club for many years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Flower City Chapter for more than 50 years; she also served as the first female president of the Effingham Park District; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson loved painting and playing Scrabble, and she was an avid Murder She Wrote fan; above all, her family and her dogs were her life; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Martin Haldane "Red" Kingery; and several of her dogs; and

WHEREAS, Judi Dodson is survived by her husband, Neil Dodson; her children, Martin Fruchtl and Teresa (Bill) Trail; two granddaughters; her dog, Shelby; and many other loved ones and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Judith Darlene "Judi" Kingery Dodson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judi Dodson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
