| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Andrea Smith on being | ||||||
| 4 | recognized as the American Network of Community Options and | ||||||
| 5 | Resources (ANCOR) 2025 Illinois Direct Support Professional of | ||||||
| 6 | the Year; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Andrea Smith of Carbondale has worked at ResCare | ||||||
| 8 | Community Living since 2017 as a direct support professional | ||||||
| 9 | (DSP); DSPs work directly with children and adults with | ||||||
| 10 | intellectual or developmental disabilities to assist them in | ||||||
| 11 | residing, working, and recreating in communities of their | ||||||
| 12 | choice; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, For over 40 years, ResCare Community Living has | ||||||
| 14 | provided community living services that help individuals with | ||||||
| 15 | intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy greater | ||||||
| 16 | quality of life in their own home or in home-like | ||||||
| 17 | environments, providing more than 100 million hours of service | ||||||
| 18 | for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities | ||||||
| 19 | each year, including 250,000 medications administered each day | ||||||
| 20 | in approximately 2,000 residential homes across the country | ||||||
| 21 | for a behaviorally complex population with multiple chronic | ||||||
| 22 | conditions and co-morbidities; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The American Network of Community Options and | ||||||
| 2 | Resources (ANCOR) is a national advocacy organization with | ||||||
| 3 | over 2,500 members that serves as a leading voice in | ||||||
| 4 | Washington, D.C. on behalf of community-based | ||||||
| 5 | intellectual/developmental disabilities service providers; | ||||||
| 6 | and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, In 2025, ANCOR received over 500 nominations for | ||||||
| 8 | its annual National Direct Support Professional of the Year; | ||||||
| 9 | and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, During ANCOR's annual conference held from April | ||||||
| 11 | 7 through April 9, 2025 in San Diego California, Andrea Smith | ||||||
| 12 | was recognized alongside 53 other honorees from states all | ||||||
| 13 | across the country; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 15 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 16 | we congratulate Andrea Smith on being recognized as the | ||||||
| 17 | American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) | ||||||
| 18 | 2025 Illinois Direct Support Professional of the Year; and be | ||||||
| 19 | it further | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Andrea Smith as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 22 | respect. | ||||||
